What the studio offers

femmewell is a small studio with around ten facilitators, most teaching in German and English. The timetable is broad, with dozens of classes across the week. Pilates leads, with a strong focus on core strength and the pelvic floor. Many sessions are labeled by level, from first classes to more experienced practice, so there is room to start where you are.

The studio also offers yoga, including hormone yoga shaped around different phases of the cycle, and mat pilates for those who want a more dynamic flow. Strength and gentle classes appear alongside them.

Classes for each stage of life

Much of what femmewell does is organized around life stages. Prenatal classes range from grounding pilates for the early months to birth preparation for the third trimester. After birth, postnatal pilates begins only once the body is ready, and parent-and-child sessions let babies join in.

The facilitators, including Jana, Lucia, Katja, Valerie, Eva, Irene and Sofiya, bring a shared attention to these stages. Classes are taught in English, German, or both, which suits the international community that gathers in this part of Vienna.

femmewell: questions and answers

Are there classes in English?

femmewell offers classes in German and English, and many sessions are run bilingually, so people who speak either language can join. Most classes are taught in English or both languages.

When do most people practice at femmewell?

The classes run mostly in the morning, with about half of them starting before noon. Evening classes make up about a fifth of the timetable, and the busiest start times are 9:30am, 10am, 11am and 6:30pm.

Is femmewell good for beginners?

Yes. Several classes are built for people with little or no experience, and about a third of the classes are marked as suitable for a first class ever. Gentle pilates and yoga are a natural place to begin.

What kinds of classes does femmewell teach?

Pilates is the main practice here, with core and pelvic floor work at its center. Yoga, strength and back-focused classes appear less often, and some sessions are designed around the menstrual cycle or hormonal phases.

Is femmewell only for pregnant women and new mothers?

femmewell has a strong focus on classes for pregnancy and the time after birth. Prenatal pilates, postnatal and parent-and-child sessions like MamaBaby Pilates and MamaBaby Yoga make up a large part of the program.
