When short classes run

Most of the short classes here are 45 minutes long, with a steady run of 50-minute classes too. Morning is where the schedule is fullest: more than half of the short classes fall before noon, and about a third start before 9am. The busiest start times are 8am, 10am and noon, with a smaller group of evening classes around 5:30pm.

The Works Renew, The Works Downtown and Freedom Studio carry many of the short sessions, so there is usually something to choose from on a given day. Thursday, Monday and Tuesday tend to have the most classes.

What the classes are

Strong, yoga and vinyasa classes make up a large share, and Pilates, strength and flow classes are also common. Some of the names will tell you what to expect: The Sculpt Vinyasa Express at The Works Downtown, Power Pilates at Temple Pilates and Lunar Vinyasa at Park Circle Yoga Studio are examples of the range.

A few studios offer calmer options such as restore, meditation and breathwork, but these are much less frequent. Dozens of facilitators lead the short classes across the city, and the studios listed above are a good place to see how the styles differ.

What kinds of short classes are there?
