About Dima-lates

dima-lates is a pilates studio at 30 Barr Road 2 in Ajax, a short drive east of Toronto. Its timetable is built around pilates, with a clear focus on strength, core and pelvic floor work. Much of the practice happens on the reformer, alongside chair and tower classes that take the same principles in a different direction.

It suits you if

  • you want strength work built on Pilates
  • you prefer a reformer or chair class to a mat session
  • you can practice before work or in the evening

What a class feels like

The studio's classes lean toward strength. Core and control, Core Combo Chair & Reformer, Strength & Mobility, Tower Power and Strength & Stability all work the body with a steady, deliberate pace. Jump & Sculpt adds more energy for those who want a livelier session.

Reformer is the main equipment here, and there are classes for those who want to build technique on it, including Reformer Mastery Series. Restore & Renew Pilates and Biomechanical Principles Of Movement offer a quieter, more analytical way in.

Fitting a class into the week

Most classes run about 50 minutes, so a session fits easily into a lunch break or a morning before the day starts. The timetable is heaviest in the morning and the evening, with the most common start times at 10am, 11am, 6pm and 7pm. The studio teaches in a small set of Toronto-area locations, and the classes are led by a team of about ten facilitators.
