Styles and levels
The studio's classes are built to meet people where they are. Easy Flow welcomes anyone new to the mat or coming back after a long break, and it also suits a body that is tired from a demanding period or carries light physical limitations. Vinyasa Flow asks for more energy, moving through sun salutations and asanas with a dynamic rhythm.
Beyond the general classes there is a clear focus on the years around birth. Yoga for pregnant people is a mindful practice meant to support wellbeing and balance, and Mama Baby is a time set aside for a parent and their baby together. A slow Gentle Yin workshop and a 240-minute birth preparation practice round out the offer.
The shape of the week
Most of the schedule falls in the evening, and a good portion of classes start in the morning from 9am onward. Weekend sessions are a small part of the timetable. Wednesdays and Tuesdays are among the busiest days, and the peak start times cluster around 9am, 10:30am, 5pm and 6pm.
Classes are mostly taught in German. The studio's regular facilitators include Romy, who teaches a large share of the classes, and the studio has a handful of facilitators in total, with a Fitness group also running on the program. Booking is done through Eversports.
Shanti Shanti Yoga Studio: questions and answers
Is shanti shanti a good place to start if I am new to yoga?
Yes. The studio offers open classes for beginners and for more experienced practitioners, and a good number of classes are labeled for all levels or for people taking their first class ever. Easy Flow is built for people who are new to the mat, returning after a long break, or coming off a demanding stretch and looking for a gentler practice.
When do most classes at shanti shanti take place?
Most classes run in the evening, and about a third fall in the morning. Mornings start as early as 9am, and the busiest start times are 9am, 10:30am, 5pm and 6pm. The latest class begins at 7:30pm. Weekends are a small part of the schedule, and midday and early-morning classes before 9am are not on the timetable.
Are there classes for pregnancy and new parents?
Yes. The studio offers yoga for pregnant people, a postnatal class where you can bring your baby, and a preparation course for a peaceful birth. These sit alongside the regular open classes, so a visitor at any stage of pregnancy or early parenthood will find something that fits.
How long are the classes?
Most classes last 60 to 75 minutes. Longer sessions include a 120-minute gentle yin workshop and a 240-minute birth preparation practice for participants of a specific online course.
What is the difference between Vinyasa Flow and Easy Flow, and where does aerial yoga fit in?
Vinyasa Flow is more dynamic than Easy Flow, moving through classic sun salutations and asanas with creative transitions. Gentle Yin is a slow practice where poses are held for longer, suited to anyone who wants a quieter pause from the day. Aerial Yoga uses a suspended fabric to support familiar yoga shapes from a different angle.
Which language are the classes taught in?
Yes. Several classes are taught in German, and the studio's own description is written in German. The studio's booking runs through Eversports, so you can see the class you want and reserve your place there.
