Deep rest in Encinitas
Deep rest in Encinitas is mostly yoga nidra, restorative and yin, with many classes paired with gong, bowls and other sound. The classes are concentrated in one neighborhood and a few studios, so the rhythm of the practice is easy to learn. Most sessions run about an hour and fall in the afternoon and evening.

What deep rest looks like here
The collection is built around yoga nidra, a guided practice of lying still and following a voice into deep relaxation. Restorative classes come close behind, with props supporting the body in long, quiet holds. Yin, somatic flow, breathwork and gentle pranayama round it out, and a few classes lean toward kundalini or hatha.
Sound is a defining thread. Crystal and Tibetan bowls, gong, chimes and therapy harp appear in more than half the classes, often as a sound bath that runs through the whole session.
Where and when to practice
Soul of Yoga in Pacific Serena carries most of the collection, with restorative, yoga nidra, somatic and community classes across the week. Mello Yoga adds yoga nidra and yin-led sessions, so the rest of the collection is spread across a handful of studios.
Classes cluster in the afternoon and evening, with most starts between 2pm and 7pm and the busiest slots around 5:30pm to 7pm. Friday, Sunday and Wednesday see the most classes, and weekends make up about a fifth of the collection.
Deep rest: questions and answers
When do most people practice deep rest in Encinitas?
Most of the deep rest classes in Encinitas run at about an hour, and the usual start times are 2pm, 5:30pm, 6:45pm and 7pm. Evenings are the most common slot, with midday classes a little less common and no morning starts listed.
Which studios offer deep rest classes in Encinitas?
Soul of Yoga leads most of the deep rest classes here, and it is based in Pacific Serena. Mello Yoga also offers yoga nidra and yin-led classes. Together they make up a small group of studios, so the choice is compact.
Is there a free option?
Yes. Soul of Yoga runs a free community class, taught by its 200 hour yoga teachers in training and recent graduates, with a different style each week. The style shifts with the teacher, so the class can be restorative one week and yin or vinyasa the next.
Is this a good place to start if I have never done yoga nidra?
Yes. Yoga nidra is a guided practice of lying still and following a voice into deep relaxation, and it is the most common style in this collection. Many classes also add restorative shapes, yin holds and gentle breathwork, so a first visit does not require any experience.
What does the sound in these classes involve?
Soul of Yoga often adds sound healing to its restorative and yoga nidra classes. Crystal and Tibetan bowls, gong, chimes and therapy harp are played through the class, and some sessions are candlelit with starlit settings. Sound baths and gong and bowl sessions are a large part of the collection here.
How long are the classes?
Most classes run at about an hour, though some restorative sessions at Soul of Yoga last 75 minutes. Shorter, gentle sessions fit easily into an evening, and the longer ones suit anyone who wants more time to settle.
